Gem & Tauri have officially released their sophomore EP, Crownless, on Seven Lions’ Ophelia Records. The three-track EP marks their seventh release on the label. With three tracks and two extended mixes, Crownless fits perfectly inside their realm of melodic techno and house.

Consisting of Courtney Simmons and Emma Montalvo, Gem & Tauri came together after being involved in the electronic music scene for over ten years. They released their first EP, All You Need, in 2020 followed by a handful of singles and remixes. Their style in All You Need carries into Crownless with the addition of a deeper, more industrial sound.

“Fatal Love” starts the album off strong with a chill techno beat underneath Dani King’s smooth vocals. Its extended mix follows the same path, beginning with thumping beats and interesting synths. The title track, “Crownless,” is funky with low basslines and captivating hi-hats that keep up in the extended mix.

The third song, “Waking Up,” was released as a single last month with singer Notelle. The deep house track surprised listeners with its darker tone that compliments the other tracks. The producers wrote, “It’s been 2 years of learning production & songwriting, which we’ve really enjoyed the process of finding our own sound and groove.”

Gem & Tauri are currently traveling around North America with Seven Lions on his Beyond the Veil tour, hitting a majority of the stops. To see a full list of cities they will be playing at, as well as information on purchasing tickets, click here.

Crownless is a cohesive EP with a clear, distinct sound that keeps the same energy from past releases. It is now available to listen to on all streaming platforms.
