Who is Hex Cougar?
As electronic music continues to evolve in 2025, few artists are bridging emotional storytelling with innovative artistic expression quite like Hex Cougar. With a new single, an EP on the horizon, and a debut performance at one of the biggest festivals in the world, he’s focused on building a universe.
You might know him through his collaboration with RL Grime, “Silo” — or perhaps you’re one of the longtime fans who discovered his iconic “Hexifornia” flip during the SoundCloud golden era, back when Hex was fresh out of USC in 2015. More recently, his Embody EP, released via Insomniac’s Break Room Records, marked a deeper and more evolved sonic chapter — earning critical acclaim for its emotionally-driven soundscapes that explore the full spectrum of intensity, vulnerability, and cinematic tension.
Now, in 2025, Hex Cougar stands at a defining moment in his artistic journey. With Lollapalooza just around the corner, a brand-new single titled “FANTASY”, and a fully reimagined live show debuting on one of the world’s biggest stages, Hex is expanding his vision with precision and purpose.
The Live Show: Hex Cougar’s Lollapalooza Debut
Hex Cougar is set to make his Lollapalooza debut on Friday, August 1st at Perry’s Stage, delivering a fully immersive audiovisual experience designed to hit as hard emotionally as it does sonically. With this performance on the horizon, the team has been dialing in every detail — building a show that blurs the line between DJ set and cinematic experience.
As with all things Hex Cougar, nothing about this moment is accidental. Every transition, visual cue, and sonic shift has been deliberately crafted to tell a cohesive story — delivered through custom time-coded visuals and a live set designed to transport the audience into another world. Backed by a tight team of creatives — from motion designers to programmers and visual directors — the show has been months in the making, engineered for maximum sensory impact.
Musically, fans can expect a set packed with identity and nostalgia — every track a Hex Cougar original, interwoven with timeless edits and reimagined classics. The set includes a wealth of unreleased material, offering a first listen to several songs off his upcoming fall EP. And for longtime fans and new listeners alike, a standout moment as he debuts his unreleased remix of Dabin’s “I See You.”
This performance follows a strong run earlier this year, with Hex touring alongside Juelz, Nurko, and others — while headlining venues across North America. In May, he delivered a standout set at EDC Las Vegas 2025, further solidifying his place among the next wave of forward-thinking electronic artists. With a fall tour alongside Dabin on the horizon, Hex Cougar is setting the tone for the rest of 2025 — building on the momentum of one of the world’s most iconic stages.
Behind the Scenes
Everything Hex Cougar is deeply intentional — not just in the music, but in everything that surrounds it. Every decision is treated like a creative puzzle to be solved. Hex Cougar is the epitome of ‘art first’: meticulous, thoughtful, and determined to bring his creative vision to life.
Behind that vision is a growing team focused on building, guiding, and executing at every level. Manager Angelo Christoff is competing for the title of the youngest to land a Lollapalooza offer, having done so at age 23. A full-time student, entrepreneur, and the ‘Ferris Bueller’ of his time, Angelo studies finance with an emphasis in computer science at the University of Colorado Boulder — all while running Christoff Entertainment, the management company he founded in 2021. Since launching the firm, he’s worked with several acts, including BONNIE X CLYDE, where he earned a reputation as the team’s “Swiss Army Knife” for his adaptability and technical range.
Across all his projects, he wears multiple hats: from designing visuals and programming time-coded sets to coordinating tour logistics and overseeing full-scale management operations. That versatility is rooted in his background as a music producer — and in a passion for pushing culture forward that he’s pursued for over a decade. Alongside Angelo is Drew Wieloch, who helps keep the gears turning behind the scenes — supporting the day-to-day needs of the project and helping ensure everything runs smoothly from prep to showtime.
“Exactly 10 years ago, Lollapalooza 2015 was the first concert I ever attended. Growing up in Minneapolis, most venues were 21+, and the EDM industry wasn’t nearly as developed as it is today. Lolla was really the only all-ages event where I finally had the chance to experience live dance music. For my 14th birthday, my dad bought me a ticket and we went together. I spent the entire weekend at Perry’s Stage, and it changed my life. Now, a decade later, having the privilege to put on a show at that same stage feels surreal. My goal is to give back the kind of experience that was given to me; to inspire others to promote culture and create memories that stick with fans long after the show ends.”
