Alison Wonderland will be bringing her side project, Whyte Fang to Coachella on April 14th and 21st. Whyte Fang’s immersive sets are sure to hypnotize the iconic music festival.
Alison Wonderland revealed that she will be releasing music under Whyte Fang more often this year and that a debut album will be released in the first-half of this year.
Following the establishment of her label, FMU Records, the multi-faceted producer has given listeners a myriad of things to look forward to.
The project began over a decade ago in 2011 when The Grates and Whyte Fang collaborated on the five-track EP, The Version Suicides.
There are similarities between Alison Wonderland and Whyte Fang’s music, but the latter takes a darker, grittier approach to techno and house. Each song ventures into different territories musically, blending vocal chops with heavy, vibrating bass and funky synthesizers.
“Heart” was released on Soundcloud in 2014, but the project seemed to be abandoned after this. In 2021, Whyte Fang returned with “TIDES.” The downtempo track began with her exhilarating cello before dropping into a wonky downtempo.
“333” and “Girl” were released towards the end of last year. Her more-recent releases follow the ominous and deep path set in 2011. Whyte Fang’s first single of 2023, “Transport God,” is no exception to this sound.
“Transport God” focuses on hard-hitting beats in the first minute before going into a dreamy interlude. The second half of the song combines drum and bass with the same intense beats. The synths, vocals, and drums eventually fade out after taking the listener through an journey in a little over two minutes.
If anything, Whyte Fang has surely created music that is perfect for small, dark rooms and maybe even better in the California desert.
