Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival punctuated this lineup season with a wide-ranging, prolific roster of its own.
Bonnaroo is set to take place June 15-18, 2023, making its annual return to Great Stage Park in Manchester, Tennessee.
Bonnaroo has been known over the years for sporting its own distinctive multi-genre gumbo, eclipsing everything from country to hip-hop to alternative to edm to indie to folk to rock and everything in between. However, the last few lineups have been accompanied by claims of an unvaried, narrowed approach focused more on ticket sales than substance. Now a counter to this could be financial constraints and general market saturation, but let’s not deviate.
This year, it seems Bonnaroo has returned to its roots and firmly planted itself in its time-tested signature recipe, generating an incredibly diverse lineup of unique, talented stars from top to bottom. This is one of Bonnaroo’s more flavorful lineups in recent memory.
We’ll begin with the main edm acts. After all, this is AllTime EDM. Odesza leads the charge as one of the three overall headliners. Followed closely behind are the likes of Zeds Dead, Liquid Stranger, Griz, Subtronics, Louis the Child, Big Wild, Alesso, and Jauz.
Whether you enjoy soul-crushing dubstep; mind-bending bass; high-energy house; spicy, soulful synths; or visceral, uplifting vibes; this main contingent of edm artists covers an impressive elemental array of the edm subgenre spectrum.
And if your itch still isn’t quite scratched, we turn to the undercard. Peekaboo, Mersiv, Apashe, Boogie T b2b Dirk Monkey b2b Subdocta, Wax Motif, Walker & Royce, Daily Bread, and NotLö highlight many of the rousing lower-tiered edm artists.
Also, I would be remiss to not make a special note that Shaquille O’Neal aka DJ Diesel will be making his first appearance on the farm. Headbangers and jersey bros rejoice.
Outside of edm, this Bonnaroo lineup still flourishes. Kendrick Lamar and Foo Fighters join Odesza as the three main headliners. Other impressive notables include Korn, Paramore, My Morning Jacket, Lil Nas X, Portugal. The Man, Umphrey’s Mcgee, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, J.I.D., Rebelution, Three 6 Mafia, and Tyler Childers. Say what you want, but that’s diversity.
More artists are still to be announced, including those performing at Bonaroo’s unique forest sub-venue of sorts ‘Where in the Woods’, which takes place outside the Centeroo area. Last year’s roster featured artists such as Dillon Francis and Nghtmre.
Bonnaroo has also restructured their camping selection process and Centeroo experience. Details can be found at Bonnaroo.com.
