Aoki joins a crew of 7 others for the first all-civilian mission to the moon.
Developed by Elon Musk’s SpaceX company, next year’s launch will mark the very first all-civilian trip around the moon. With more and more celebrities shooting for the literal, stars, Japanese fashion multi-billionaire Yusaku Maezawa bought all the seats on the trip originally announced in 2018.
Aoki joins other newly revealed passengers, K-pop rapper Choi Seung Hyun, aka T.O.P from the band, BIGBANG. Irish photographic artist Rhiannon Adam, and British photographer Karim IIiya.
This will be Maezawa’s second voyage into the great unknown, following his 12-day trip to the International Space Station last year. The trip will last 3 days, circling the moon, coming within 200 kilometers of the moon’s surface.
Maezawa has spoken positively of the crew he handpicked. “I’m very thrilled to have these amazing people join me on my journey to the moon and excited to see what inspiring creations they come up with in space.”
For Aoki, this comes off the release of his seventh studio album, “HiROQUEST” in September. Split across 5 chapters, the 26-track album features guest appearances from Taking Back Sunday, Kane Brown, Mod Sun, Georgia Ku, Bryce Vine, Santa Fe Klan, Lil Xan, Goody Grace, the late PnB Rock and more.
