Since the original start of the festival back in 1998 when around 600 attendants gathered to celebrate their love for music and art at the Salmo River Ranch, Shambhala has continued enhancing its mission of guiding attention to the people on the dance floor.
As a result of this, Shambhala sets itself apart from other mainstream festivals by stating that they aren’t involved with any corporate sponsorships, and you won’t see any corporate logos while on the farm. This reinforces the in-the-moment, authentic energy that Shambhala is so well known for.
While the genuine appreciation for art, music, and festival goers them self is a main focus of Shambhala, it’s no doubt that the curation of the lineup perfectly embodies different fans of different styles of dance music coming together to appreciate what they each have in common – an unconditional love for music and art of all kinds.
This year, the recently released lineup captures exactly this; including some house music, heavy dubstep, melodic dubstep, riddim, and more. This absolutely stacked lineup begins with some house music fan favorites like John Summit, Shiba San, Tchami, and Valentino Khan, who pack a crowd with jumping fans each and every time. Headbangers will be able to get their classic, heavy dubstep fix with sets from Black Tiger Sex Machine, Excision, Rusko, TVBOO, and Subdocta.
For those craving to dance the night away to some melodic dubstep, there will be sets from Zeds Dead, Grabbitz, RL Grime, Gigantic Nightmre. For those who want to vibe to some weird in the best way dubstep, they can check out Of the Trees, Kumarion, and Liquid Stranger.
